Torchlight Run 5k Results

Location: Seattle, WA
Official time: 27:29
Chip time: 27:01
Pace/mile: 8:41/mile

I love summer holidays and any excuse for a parade in Seattle. Seafair has a variety of activities and event in the 2 months leading up to Seafair Weekend, or the first week in August. One of the events is the Torchlight run and parade in downtown. You can either run the 8k or the 5k, which are run on the Viaduct, and have GORGEOUS views of the harbor.

This was a good and bad race. Pro: awesome race, easy course an great views. Con: VERY poorly executed. Not only did they loose my bib number, but they were out of small shirts (which I pre-ordered) and I barely had time to get in line before the gun went off. I also had to hold my bib since there were no more safety pins. I also failed to get a good picture of the race.

Luckily the parade and Torchlight Party that I held later that night made up for it :)

Can you find me?

Gotta love the Seafair Pirates and Seagals!

4th of July Fun Run 5k Results

Location: Bainbridge Island, WA
Official time: 33:17
Chip time: NA
Pace/mile: 10:42/mile

Overall: 292/389
Gender Place: 122:181
Age Place: 13/17

I absolutely LOVE the 4th of July, so I was pretty excited for this race (there is a 1 mile option as well). If you are unfamiliar with Bainbridge Island, the town shuts down for the fourth and has a parade and street fair during the day, then everyone goes to parties or watches the fireworks from Seattle. Of course, you have to stop by San Carlos for one a few margaritas too.

This 5k was MUCH more difficult than I expected. You start going slightly downhill, then run a few tenths of a mile going steadily uphill (this was really long, at least half a mile). There is a long decline, then followed by a hellish hill up High School Road. Needless to say, I wasn't expecting the hills! My time is proof I wasn't ready for this:

At least I can wear my shirt with pride! No worries, I had a few margs post-race. Ill be ready the next time!

Run For Your Rights 5k Results

The NARAL Run For Your Rights was a small run around Greenlake. Jarett and I ran with Jill and a few of her friends to support NARAL (pro-choice and women's health) where Jill worked for a few months. This was a very VERY small race compared to Beat the Bridge, yet the protesters made it pretty interesting :)

T-shirt included, but no pictures and not chip-timed.

Location: Seattle, WA (Greenlake)
Official time: 28:35 (estimate)
Chip time: NA
Pace/mile: 9:12/mile

Beat the Bridge 8k Results

Location: Seattle, WA (UW)

Pace/mile: 9:22/mile

Nordstrom Beat the Bridge is a 5k or 8k race that goes around the UW campus. Starting and finishing in Husky Stadium, runners must run the first 2 miles to the Montlake bridge within 20 minutes or else the bridge will raise and make you stop for a few minutes. No worries if you do not "beat the bridge," there is a band playing and fun activities while you wait for the bridge, and you can resume the race as soon as it lowers again.

Beat the Bridge was a slightly hilly course, yet not too difficult. Over 10,000 people ran this race, but it was very well organized. Photos available and t-shirt included.

All smiles after the first race and beating the bridge!
